The solution to a dilemma of having unmotivated or unqualified counselor's in today's community colleges I would say is higher pay for these individual's and more incentives for people to actually want to spend the time and effort to do this for a career. As much as there are those that have the passion and will to do things out of the kindness of their heart it's just like teachers, they are way under paid. As much as I would like to say it would be easier to raise their pay, it's not. So it has come down the solution of possible creating a business like organization that of course accepts donations and charity work but that also charges for quality counseling service. Like when once sees a psychologist almost.
Counselor's can charge by month or a visit fee possibly. For charity these counselor's can meet with student's that truly can not afford this kind of assistance. I know this kind of thing would take time and work but it is worth it for the future for need of educated people to succeed in our economy to the max. Everything is routed to the education of our young people say.
I personally feel I would have benefited from an organization that offered quality, caring counselors.

Testing the Opportunity Hypothesis, Part 1
Colleges, especially community colleges are unable to provide quality counselor's for students to help future graduates succeed and pursue what they truly want in life expressing the need of an organization that provides quality counselors that are a signed to students every step of the way to help them succeed.
- The who: Universities and community colleges
- The what: Unable to provide quality service to students to help them succeed in their journey to a successful college experience and diploma.
- The why: Counselor's pay and lack of a quality organization that guarantees a counselor that is there for you every step of the way and truly cares on one's success.
Testing the who:
This is for any kind of student for those that are not student's yet and those who need help getting started to better their life through education. Can be student's getting out of high school or getting ready to needing guidance to what they need to do next. Where to go? What to study? What classes to take?
Also for those that might have been out of school for a while and wanting to return which I honestly think will be the one's that need the most help.
Testing the what:
The boundaries or issues will be people being skeptical in thinking that this is worth the investment. Considering most schools have counselor's and wont find the need to go the extra mile to get quality counselor's because people assume they are all the same and this organization is not worth it.
I can tell you personally from dealing with horrible counselor's at my community college there is a demand for quality guidance.
Testing the why:
Anyone that has had a...lets say not so helpful counselor verse a helpful counselor knows that there is a major difference between the two and they make the world of difference. I know from experience personally and several other students/friends that have agreed with my experience with these so called counselor's at colleges that have so much power to truly help students but do not. The difference in having a different person every time to be told different things on how to pursue your future and having someone that checks in and knows things to be beneficial to your journey to graduating with a degree to your future means the world of difference.

Looking for Opportunity in Economic Trends and Regulatory Changes
OPPORTUNITY 1
I think an organization that has counselor's that really want to help students succeed and are qualified to help student's reach goals they didn't even know that were possible would be great idea,
I'm not sure if everyone agree with me that School counselor's are an economic trend but to me they are. Counselor's can make the world of difference to a young adult, an actual adult, and of course children. I think its a shame that there are so many counselors out there that don't seem to really care how powerful their career is. I say this is a economic trend opportunity because better counselors mean more students striving, succeeding, goal oriented, and informed allow not only them to graduate high school. To move on to bigger and more prestigious goals such as a masters or going overseas to embrace all the unknown. I honestly think that we would have more successful individuals which would mean less poverty to an extreme to say that counselor's can impact to well less student's will drop out of school, prevent a long downward spiral for some.
A.) I came to this idea while reading an article called, Congrats, America. You have less economic opportunity than you did in 1970, on the Washington Post website. There was a section that discussed Virginia's increase in High school graduates and increase advancements seemed to have correlated with decrease poverty and crime. This made me think of the reason why student's don't strive to graduate, then it made me think of my own struggles in high school and college at that fact. I personally always knew I would go to college so I pushed through however I believe if I had better counselor's I would have excelled so much more.
B.) I think that there is an opportunity here due to that fact that it is a major problem than needs major attention too. I think if there were more incentives to being a counselor more people would like to counsel young minds and help shape who they will become for the better but there is just no way to make a good living off that career with the pay government thinks is fit for this profession which in turn means students end up with less driven counselors that don't necessarily care for their profession.
C.) I think any parent that wants their children to succeed can benefit from this, also children/young adults will definitely benefit. I can only say this due to me have horrible counselor's in high school and at my community college. They were never too helpful or good listeners and it made me think are all counselors like this. Since I've been attending UF I have finally been able to experience otherwise.
D.) Honestly, I think this will be difficult to exploit due to the fact people don't realize that there is a problem with the so called "counselor's" already at the schools especially public schools and community colleges. I think people need to be shown how helpful a great counselor can be.
OPPORTUNITY 2
Another economic trend opportunity is more affordable study abroad opportunities for student's that can not afford it. I think that it is ridiculously expensive for student's to study abroad and I think it is an experience people should try if they want too. I think an organization probably exists but we don't know about it where they house, feed, even teach student's from the US different customs and ways of life. People think people live the way we do but that is not the case,
A.) I can't really tell you one particular article but I constantly read articles about economic opportunity and they all emphasize education to be a major need for striving and growing economy. Look at Germany, this Country has a major emphasizing culture on importance of education or at least job training to mold you to succeed in something to not only hep you grow but the country.
B.) Everyone here would indulge in watching our economy better with more people who understand how other countries are and understand all the opportunities we have in the US that others don't nearly have.
C.) Parent's will be the major customer so to say of an opportunity for sending their child/young adult to learn a new way of life and understand all the opportunities they have to succeed.
D.) Once again I think this will be difficult because parent's don't want to send of their children even if they are even adults, or student's will be scared, also this would be a very expensive investment but worth it.
OPPORTUNITY 3
An app that allows you to load what you need to do at the DMV, pick an appointment time, tell you the wait time, gives you your number on that app, and alerts you when your number is close to being called.
A.) I got this idea while waiting with my boyfriend at a DMV to renew his license and it wouldn't let him over the internet. We waited there for nearly two hours for something that gotten taken care of in-less than 20 minutes.
B.) There is an opportunity because the DMV seems to be always packed and no one looks like they want to be there. Also people wait there for hours. DMV are known for taking for ever just like doctor offices. I know there is a demand for this because people hate wasting their time.
C,) Anyone needing to go to the DMV would benefit buy not having to sit there for hours and hours waiting for their number to be called. Allow people to take care of things or go eat while they wait and then once their number is about to be called alert them so they don't miss it.
D.) I think this would be so easy to exploit. Just post add information at the DMV offices and online and people would download it to save their time and frustration.
OPPORTUNITY 4
A major regulatory trend that should be changed is that all business's should over health insurance. I think it is not right that there are employers that don't offer it. I mean I also think health insurance in the US is ridiculous to where the medical and health department in a whole makes no sense to where they get these ridiculous numbers to charge people. My mother is from Germany and the cost to see a doctor.
A.) I got this idea while reading an article on Regulatory Business Trends and it had things to say in regards to health coverage for employees is a major trend that needs help on.
C.) People working for a company that does not offer health insurance would benefit.
D.)I think this is very difficult to exploit because business's want to save money as much as possible and don't want to provide insurance unless they need to honestly.

Forming an Opportunity Belief
Beginning Point: I believe an app that shows the wait at a doctor's office or any office at that matter would be an awesome idea. Shows relative wait per office per doctor. Possibly with extra features that allow you to recommend doctors and share one's experience. But mostly be able to track the wait for an office. Maybe with the option to also alert them that you are running late or vice versa alerts you when you will be waiting so not to speed to your appointment.
My Belief : I can't tell you how many times I have been running late to my doctors or dentist and rushing to get there to just end up waiting in the wait room for what seems to be too long due to the fact of having an appointment time for a reason. Just recently I had to go to the family care doctor's office around the corner to my house, for something minor which i assumed would take 45 minutes to an hour tops. I ended up sitting there for two hours. I think this app with allow people to be less stressed when running late. Along with providing offices with a heads up that your running late or whatever is going on. This would be majorly helpful to those that go to the doctor's office several times a year, which can allow them to waste less time waiting around. But any one that goes to a doctor visit or office this would be beneficial too.
The Prototypical Customer: Everyone hopefully. I believe most people attend doctor, dentist, and other offices that require you to wait at least once a year for an annual check up.
Summary : The original opportunity is all there. I had a person experience to which made me think that an app that could do such a thing would be great. I do think it is more accurate to the sense that I was able to write it down on paper rather than just kind of explain in words to what would be a useful app. I think I could even grow on to this app to include more characteristics.
I think entrepreneurs should definitely look at customer feedback because they are they buyers and they are the one's that make or break an idea/business. I believe customer feedback can show you in advance whether an idea is good or bad for the most part. They will be the one's that can foretell whether they would purchase or participate in a product or service.

My Entrepreneur Story
I would have to say my family shows entrepreneurship by my father taking run down mechanics such as cars, boats, and run down equipment and fixing them up. Building up cars from scratch. For example my dad bought a run down Corvette for a couple hundred dollars and fixed it up to a nice running and reliable vehicle, sold it for more than he put into it to make a decent profit.
My step mother is also very crafty. She makes a small little profit from selling jewelry she makes her self at flea markets and through family and friends. She also makes kitchen items like potato pouches which heat up potatoes to perfection. She could honestly make a profit from a lot of her skills to remodeling run down homes to making quilts for grand babies.
My mother is an excellent backer who has provided family and friends with her delicious cakes, jam, pastries, and other deliciousness in life. She never sells her baked goods but she has been told a countless amount of times that she should open her own German bakery or even a restaurant because her skills don't end at just desserts.
For myself I have found a liking to fixing up run down furniture. For example I bought a shoe rack that was pretty run down for about 15 dollars and was able to fix up and could have sold it for way more than 15 dollars.

Why am I taking ENT 3003? Well it is required for my degree which I'm sure most people in business are aware of. But also it's interesting to learn about how to build on something that people are good at and to make a profit. We see people starting businesses to succeed or fail, we learn about what we think people want verse what people need and how to build off those wants and needs to make a business that strives. Hopefully this class will help me be successful if I ever decide to build off one of my skills or people I surround myself.
